20 years old Sander Pedersen wants to be a full time commercial fisherman on his own boat. The politics in Norway make it very difficult for the younger generation to enter the fisheries, Sander explains.

Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen , the Fishery and Seafood minister, has been in contact with Sander and supports the young fisherman’s spirit but does not agree. The minister explains there is a new fishing quota for fisherman under 30 years, allowing them to fish another 4 tons in addition to the existing 16 tons of cod without buying quota.

This regulation is for the «open group».
A feasibility study within the fisheries shows there is sustainability in developing a new modern fleet of boats between 8 – 15 meters, lowering the overpriced boats in todays market and offering financially sustainable solutions.
The news caught the attention of a Norwegian business man based in Asia, Roar Nilsen, a boat Builder who started his own business at age 20.

“I see similarities between Sander and myself at age 20, having dreams and passion ready to take over the world. If i could build an estimated 100 boats from the age of 20-23 with a couple of childhood friends, then there’s a pretty good chance Sander can become his own boss and captain one day.”
Nilsen is developing markets in Asia for the fisheries, and governments are welcoming the developing markets, along with the local fishermen.

Prof. Dr. Philip Jadhav , former USA Presidential Advisory, will also give him hands on support throughout Asia as well.
With the right studies and plans in place the markets are ready for being developed and upgraded. Making the new boats modernized and affordable whilst also improving safety at sea.
There is politics involved in this here in Asia.

Nilsen explains, “it’s important for us to develop these markets together with governments and the local people. Todays modern fishing vessels are high technology and a 15 meter professional boat from us will be able to fish more than 20 of the local boats combined.”
