SOUTHEAST ASIA'S YACHTING MAGAZINE VOL. 14 No. 5, September - Octorber 2019

by: Easy Branches Team

Precision Shipwright Services (PSS) was formed in 1997 in Phuket Boat Lagoon. Starting with a team of four young Thai nationals, owner and founder Scott Bradley built a yacht refit business which became the most reputable in S/E Asia.

With yachts coming to the PSS yard from around the world for major refits and repairs, Scott needed to train local Thais to support a new type of business evolv-ing in Phuket, “yacht refits”.

A factory was built in Boat Lagoon and soon the business grew along with Scott and his small team of hard-working Thais.

Having worked on several hundred yachts since 1997, PSS continues to excel in quality refits.Below are short bios on the incredible PSS team:

ServicesDavid Samuelson
YACHT & ARCHITECTURAL RIGGER

David began working with PSS since 2004. He has worked on thousands of rigging projects from cruising sailing and motor yachts, catamarans, charter yachts, and superyachts up to 84 meters: manufacturing standing and running rigging, lifelines, bridles, lifting strops of all shapes and sizes and surveying.

David is also a rope specialist, splicing all types of rope, from hi-tech braids to double braids and three strands for all sizes and types of vessels. He has worked on several architectural rigging projects in Thailand. David also enjoys making mats, as a hobby, using old double braid; some of the old rope has sailed the world.

Montree Srichaame (Kong)
MASTER CARPENTER

Kong began working with Precision Shipwright Services in 2014. He is a qualified and well-trained yacht carpenter. He started his profession working with Phuket In-ter-woodwork in the mid-1990s.

With 25 years of experience refitting and replacing teak decking, Kong has several superyacht projects under his belt. MY Anna (67 metre), SY Bristolian (36.7 metre) MY Latitude are just a few of the 20+ teak decks and over 50+ overall refits Kong has complet-ed to the highest standard.

Kong has just completed a complete refit on a Princess yacht. The work included replacement of all veneers, teak decking, Corian countertops and remodeling dash panel. Kong is all about timber and loves showing off his skills with fine, quality work.

Laksachart Saebe (Et)
PROFESSIONAL BOAT BUILDER AND SPRAY PAINTER

Et has fantastic detailing skills. His attention to detail, refinish-ing skills and the care he puts into his work makes him a leader in the PSS team. Et has learned from the beginning the correct way to refinish and complete a repair to “Precision” quality.

Et has been a major part of 100s of yacht projects and repairs. His fiberglass repairs and paint re-finishing are of the highest standard. Recently he repaired and refinished SY Runaway Bunny and SY Making Time. Et has dozens of other yachts he has resprayed with the #1 brand Awlgrip Yacht paint.Et began working with Precision Shipwright Services in 1998 and has been with the company for more than 15 years. He was in his teens when he moving from the N/E of Thailand to join the PSS team of then 6 employees.

Sompong Booneied (Af)
PRORESSIONAL SPRAY PAINTER & APPLICATOR

APPLICATORAf is one of the original Precision Shipwright Services team. He began working in 1997 during the company’s factory comple-tion. He is a hard-working spray painter and has almost two decades of experience. Af has worked with owner and founder Scott Bradley from his early teens, and is now a “professional tradesman”.

Af was involved in the first superyacht paint job in Bangkok, MY Pegaso a 53-metre superyacht, the largest yacht painted by the PSS team. Af was hands on from start to finish in the project, “sanding to application of the final Awlgrip topcoat.”

Af is not afraid of hard work and is always a leader in the preparation and completion of projects.

Titisak Thinkwankao (Ae)
PROFESSIONAL SPRAY PAINTER & FIBERGLASS LAMINATOR

Ae began working with Precision Shipwright Services in 2005. With over 10 years’ experi-ence working with PSS’s team his fiberglass and painting skills have proven excellent time and time again.

Although previously a car spray paint-er, Ae’s fiberglass fabrication and repair work has excelled.

In several major structural repairs, osmosis treatments and cosmetic gelcoat repairs he has truly proved he is a competent fiberglass boat builder. In saying that, Ae is still a “pro” spray painter. Many of the yachts painted at PSS are from Ae’s skillful hand behind the spray gun.

Ae gets on well with all the team and his social character is a major part of our suc-cess and keeping the PSS team together
