First revealed last June, Les BenjaminsSpring/Summer 2024 installment saw creative director Bunyamin Aydin deep dive into the world of sailing through the fabled story of Sadun Boro to craft a line-up of sea-inspired garments. As the range now launches worldwide, the brand unveils a new campaign that continues to explore its meticulously executed details.

“I wanted to combine sailing and Sadun’s story with a contemporary fashion story,” Aydin shares as he reflects on the new campaign with Hypebeast. Following the narrative of the new collection – titled “Kismet Voyage East to West” – Les Benjamins finds synergy in merging the two worlds with the campaign featuring models adorned in the pieces in a construction dockyard. With a disused white ship providing a blank canvas backdrop, the contemporary garments are strategically placed to allow the bright color palette of blues, greens, and pinks to stand out.

Among the series of images, close-up shots of the collection reveal a mix of unique details that interpret sailing equipment in various crafting techniques. Wide mesh tops designed to imitate fishing nets are layered under two-piece suits as well as corset-style bustiers that are manipulated with ruffles to give the look of seaweed. “I did not want my collection to be solely about a naval story,” says Aydin. “Instead I chose to take more minimal touch points and combine those with our Les Benjamins DNA.”

Beyond aesthetics, the creative director also shares how the collection reflects his design journey with the pioneering brand, coming to life as a “parallel story” which he embarks on with Les Benjamins. He adds, “I've traveled the world to bring my conceptual deep stories and designs together. I feel like Sadun Boro, in a way.”
