With 35-knot speed and a stout build, the latest flybridge model from Princess Yachts proves to be a formidable cruiser equally suited to a family cavorting throughout the Caribbean in wet bathing suits or couples cruising the Mediterranean en route to Saint-Tropez or Porto Cervo with a professional crew.

Watching without wincing is impossible. In the video, which went viral over the summer, a floatplane and a boat are on a collision course off the coast of Vancouver. People are filming from multiple angles on shore, with massive cruise ships looming in the background.

It's a flat-calm day in the harbor. There's clear visibility. The DHC-2 MK I Beaver, operated by Harbour Air Limited, has a pilot and five sightseeing passengers aboard. It's on a takeoff run, accelerating with every second.

The best of the best: our showcase of the top 14 tenders and gear for the new year ahead including safety, entertainment, communications, electronics and propulsion.

They say life is better in the Bahamas. It's also about to get bigger, with a residential and marina development called Habacoa that will be able to welcome superyachts as large as 700 feet in its 150-slip marina.

According to the developers, there will also be a 200-vessel dry-stack facility, with an 880-foot turning circle in the basin. Ten of the homesites will have private berths for yachts up to 100 feet long, while additional canal-front lots will have private berths for boats of other sizes.
