The launch of the DOM 133, L’Instant kicked off Baglietto’s long launching season, with as many as eight new yachts bound to hit the water this year.

With exteriors penned by Stefano Vafiadis and interiors by Leonardo Santi, hull no. 10252 is the first DOM mounting an interposed hybrid propulsion system, the innovative power system with Lloyd’s Register-certified components recently introduced by the La Spezia-based shipbuilder.

This system consists of a diesel endothermic engine and an ultracompact hybrid unit fitted with an electrical motor installed between the main engine and the gearbox. The two main Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesel engines are compatible with HVO bio fuels from renewable energy sources, which can reduce CO2eq emission up to 90 percent.

The electrical machine has a dual function: it works both as an electric propulsion motor to ensure noiseless cruising in the utmost comfort, and as a shaft generator system to optimise consumption during long-range cruises, thus also reducing the number of operating hours of the traditional diesel gensets.
