The Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team have claimed their first 2025 Season victory on Championship Sunday in Sydney. The win was also a first for driver Dylan Fletcher after a hard-fought three-boat showdown against the Northstar Canada SailGP Team, who finished second, and hometown favourites, Australia in third.

The Brits’ victory cements Fletcher’s position as one of the league’s standouts. Australia conceded the loss of their home event title, but still celebrated a dominant weekend – finishing on the podium in all eight races this weekend.

Much of the Final saw Fletcher jostle for first with the man he replaced at the start of the season – Canadian driver and double Olympic gold medallist, Giles Scott. Fletcher claimed a narrow defeat, rounding the last mark just meters ahead of Scott to claim victory in front of thousands of cheering fans watching from Shark Island and the official spectator fleet.
