Italian shipyard VSY has announced that construction is almost complete on the as-yet-unnamed VSY 64M superyacht designed by Espen Oeino and from the same series as motor yachts CANDYSCAPE II and ROMA.

The naval architecture for the steel-hulled superyacht comes from Laurent Giles Naval Architects in collaboration with the shipyard, the latter also responsible for her engineering.

Numerous improvements have been made on the previous hulls, and this latest 209.9ft luxury yacht will have a diesel-electric bow and stern auxiliary thrusters to enhance manoeuvrability and stability. Four high-powered generators are encased in sound-insulated cabins to reduce disturbance to guests, and two generators can be taken offline for maintenance while the others remain operational.

The General Plan also updates the crew service areas and the laundry has been moved closer to a more practical amidships position. In the standard plan, guests are treated to two spacious lounges on the main deck (where a formal dining area to seat 12 is also placed in the space) and on the upper deck, where there is room for a grand piano for live entertainment. A glass circular lift (elevator) will connect the floors from the lower deck accommodation up to the sundeck and its swimming pool.

The accommodation sleeps up to 12 guests and the flexible layout can provide up to eight cabins, three of which can be placed on the main deck behind the full-beam forward Master suite, or alternatively on the upper deck. The crew accommodation sleeps 18, with the Captain’s cabin behind the helm station on the upper deck and the rest of the crew cabins on the lower deck in the bow.

The main propulsion will come from a pair of CATERPILLAR 3516B engines producing 2000 kW, allowing for a top speed of 17 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles. For electrical power, there are four CATERPILLAR C9 engines that produce 200 kW each. VSY has continued its collaboration with Kongsberg, Norwegian suppliers of automation systems, and a KONGSBERG® Integrated Control system is installed and integrates navigation, propulsion control and ship automation functionality.

Stored on board is a wide selection of toys and tenders, which include two 7m/23ft tenders, a 4m/14ft rescue launch and two water scooters.

The 64M luxury yacht will be launched and delivered in the next few months.
