Lurssen Hosts Mini-Yacht Show in Metropole Monte Carlo

September 2020 has been a month quite unlike any in previous years for the superyacht industry. The absence of the Monaco Yacht Show, which should have been celebrating its 30th edition, has left many of us craving our annual dosage of September sunshine, crowded docks, and most importantly, giant superyachts. Fortunately, German shipbuilder Lurssen (responsible for building a good portion of the largest superyachts in the world) is here to provide a distraction - in the form of a mini yacht exhibition.

In the yachting industry’s favourite Principality, Lurssen will be exhibiting a variety of superyacht models ranging from 60 through to 180 metres. The exhibition will take place between September 18th-26th at Metropole Shopping Monte Carlo, and the event will be open on these dates between 10:00am and 7:30pm.

Models of the 180m Azzam and 156m Dilbar (the largest yachts in the world in terms of length and gross tonnage respectively) will be showcased at the event.

The attached video was filmed by Superyachts.com on the day of Azzam's launch from Lurrsen’s yard in 2013 - 7 years on, the superyacht still retains the title of the world’s largest superyacht by an impressive distance.

Friedrich Lurssen, the great grandfather of current CEO Peter Lurssen, stated in 1875 on founding the company that, ‘My firm shall be known as a leader in both quality and performance.’ Four generations on, there is no doubt Friedrich’s vision for the business has been realised.

As builder of 11 of the 20 largest motor yachts in the world, Lurssen’s mini yacht show promises to be an event not to be missed for megayacht aficionados and those interested in the superyacht lifestyle.
