info@easybranches.comThe amateur crew is being trained and mentored by Vittorio and Nico Malingri, two outstanding and decorated ocean sailors. Marco Trombetti, Translated CEO, Ocean Globe Race co-skipper and shipowner, will race in the Cape 2 Rio as well.
“There is no better challenge for a crew with grand ambitions than testing ourselves in the legendary Cape 2 Rio Race,” says Marco Trombetti. “Measuring our abilities in a great regatta like this one will help us see where in our preparation we are, what our limits are and, crucially, how to push ourselves even further”.
This regatta is just the beginning. Translated 9 has begun her preparation for the Ocean Globe Race 2023, which will start in September.
This exciting project from Translated, leading translation company pioneer in harnessing artificial intelligence to serve human creativity, has an ambitious goal: to spread their vision – We believe in Humans – to the world.
“At Translated, we do great translations because of humans, not machines. By joining the most adventurous regatta ever made where no technology is allowed, a regatta you only win because of resilience and determination, we want to prove that if you focus on great human skills, you can achieve anything” says Marco Trombetti.
Translated’s boat is the epic Swan 65, built by Sparkman & Stephens in 1974 and skippered in 1977 by Clare Francis, the first woman to skipper a yacht in the Whitbread Round the World Race. After a huge refit ended in October 2022, Translated 9 sailed from Italy to Cape Town, where they will compete in the Cape 2 Rio Race.
Translated 9 is also the first localisation industry boat to take part in such an adventure. Her crew mirrors the accessibility and inclusivity of the project, which welcomes anyone who believes in humans and shares the idea that, through human skill, we can achieve anything.
It is composed of women and men of different ages, extreme sport athletes and amateurs, who speak different languages, and who have different backgrounds and multiple nationalities. It is also made up of people from the localisation industry, some of whom experimented with ocean sailing for the first time on Translated 9 US under the guidance of the legendary Paul Cayard.
Selections are still open, and one spot to join the crew will be available until the start of the OGR in September 2023.
Translated 9 has just started her preparation for the Ocean Globe Race 2023, and the Cape 2 Rio Race will be her shakedown. Starting from Cape Town on January 2nd, Translated 9 will cross the Atlantic Ocean to reach Rio De Janeiro in about 20 days. In this renowned and tough regatta, on the 50th anniversary of her first edition, the Translated 9 crew will need all their commitment, courage, optimism, hard work, resilience and humanity, to reach their goal.
It is possible to follow their amazing adventure and apply to join the crew at translated.com/9.
